Today I’m going to teach you how easy it is to assemble the NewTechWood Ultrashield Naturale 1 foot by 1 foot QuickDeck Outdoor Composite Deck Tiles. It’s quick, simple, and no tools are necessary to put it together. The deck tiles come in many different colors and sizes. The color we’ll be assembling today is Peruvian teak. Some of the advantage of purchasing this kit is that it’s made with, “NewTechWood, Ultrashield Capped Composite Lumber”. That means you don’t have to worry about the boards fading, molding, staining, or rotting! The product is made to last for years, no more painting, staining or refinishing! Inside the box should be 10 pieces of deck tiles with grids attached to the bottom. (Shot of grid underneath tile) This grids keeps the tile up off the floor surface and allows water to drain quickly and easily. (Shot of tile resting on concrete) These deck tiles are meant to go a solid and semi flat surface, such as roof-top decks, patios, porches and balconies. We do not recommend laying these straight over grass. If you want to lay these directly on the ground, we recommend installing a layer of crushed gravel and sand, well compacted, where the tiles will be installed. Putting these tiles together is very simple. You just take the dove tails and align them with the ends of the next tile and snap them together. (close up of snapping together of tiles) These tiles are 4 way interlocking so you can turn them any way to install them, that way you can make different designs. (2 Shots of tiles installed: perpendicular & off-set) We recommend starting from the outside of your new deck and working your way in, that way the dovetails are intact for the trim pieces to be installed later. The cut tiles should face a wall or house if at all possible. (time lapse of deck being installed from out-side in) When you get to a point where a full piece won’t fit you need to measure the area and mark accordingly on the tile. (shot of measuring the area and marking the tile) Then flip the tile over and see if your measurement is close to one of the attachment screws that hold the tile and grid together (Close-up of screws that need to be avoided) If so, the measurement will need to be adjusted or the screw can be placed in another spot. You can cut the tile with a table saw, chop saw, circular saw, or jig saw. (Show the tile being cut by circ saw and jig saw) A regular carbide tipped blade works great. Once cut, take a piece of sand paper, 180 grit or higher and sand the cut edge to make it nice and smooth. There are 3 different types of trim pieces that can be installed on your new deck to give it an elegant, finished look. These are recommended for places where people will walk up to the deck so they do not trip on the tile. The three different trim pieces are meant for straight, inside corner, or outside corner applications. The straight trim will cover 1 straight edge of a tile and each box of trim comes with 4 pieces. (Shot of installing straight trim) Each box of the inside trim comes with enough pieces to do one inside corner. (Shot of installing inside corner) And the outside corner trim will finish a corner like this, each outside trim box comes with enough pieces to do one corner.
